49: the pace of art

The book Tsai Ming-Liang and a Cinema of Slowness starts with a quote: "慢走".

Man zhou, which directly translates to walk slowly, is often used to say good-bye in Mandarin.

In some ways, it perfectly encapsulates the appeal of Tsai Ming-Liang's slow cinema, and slow cinema in general. Slowness as a way to observe, slowness as an antidote state of being to fast-paced urban society. Slowness as a way to be present.

This tiny.site presents a space to meditate. It literally has the characters of walk slowly, slowly walking across the screen. A slow site.
